The 2.0 Index: Turning the Page to Metabolism and Focus
Six years ago, my life underwent a seismic shift: the end of my marriage. At the time, that felt like the biggest challenge I would ever face. I didn't know it then, but that was just the beginning of a long, deliberate process of deconstruction and reconstruction.
For the last six years, I have been a student of myself. I’ve focused on the "head work"—processing, healing, and rediscovering exactly who Daniel is outside of the life I thought I was living. I have spent years learning how to build a life that feels authentic and stable.
But as any lifelong learner knows, the curriculum of life never actually ends. It just changes subjects.
The New Chapter
Over the last year, the curriculum shifted from the psychological to the physical and the neurological.
One year ago: I received a diagnosis that demanded immediate attention: Type 2 Diabetes.
One month ago: I finally put a name to the mental fog and distractibility that has followed me for years: ADHD.
I’ve spent the last half-decade getting my mind in a place of peace and clarity. Now, it is time to apply that same level of discipline and curiosity to my biology.
What is "The 2.0 Index"?
I’ve realized that the "head work" was the foundation, but the "system work" is the structure.
The 2.0 Index is my personal laboratory. It is where I am documenting my commitment to:
Reversing and managing my diabetes: Transforming my habits, refining my fuel, and tracking the data to get my blood sugar and cholesterol back into a healthy range.
Optimizing my ADHD brain: Moving beyond just "knowing" I have ADHD to actively managing it with systems that actually work for a lifelong learner.
Why I’m Logging This
I am a lifelong learner, and I believe the best way to master a new subject is to teach it—or at least, to document the learning process as it happens.
I’ve already done the hard work of uncovering who I am. Now, I’m ready to optimize the vessel that carries me through this life. This blog will be the place where I record the metrics, the experiments, the breakthroughs, and the inevitable lessons learned along the way.
I’m Daniel, and I’m ready for Version 2.0. If you’re also in the business of optimizing your health and your mind, I invite you to follow along.
Let’s get to work.
